Orwell Vet Group has had a presence on the Shotley Peninsula going back many years. The practice used to carry out a large amount of farm animal work on many of the farms on the Peninsula. The previous practice owner Mr Kendrick used to live at Wolverstone. Going back to the 1980’s Mr Kendrick used to see small animal patients in a small summer house in his garden near the current Ipswich High School for Girls. Once Mr Kendrick retired in 1996 a new home for this little branch practice was required. It was relocated to a small shop unit in Sutton opposite the The Kings Head Public House and next to the hair salon. In the years that have followed the practice has ceased carrying out large animal work but demand for a branch surgery on the Peninsula remains and we still see many of the farmers with their dogs. The most significant change that we made was switching from an open surgery to an appointment only system. Many clients ( and Vets ) can remember the large queues that often occurred on certain days. Our Stutton surgery is only open in the evenings and does not receive incoming telephone calls. All bookings are made by phoning either our Berners Street Branch or the Grange Farm Hospital. Please make sure you specify that you would like to be seen at Stutton.
